High expectations at the presentation of the CRÈDIT ANDORRÀ GSERIES 2019

The refurbished Circuit d’Andorra - Pas de la Casa will hold all 5 meetings this season.

The presentation of the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries 2019 was held at the premises of the Crèdit Andorrà headquarters, since this Andorran banking entity will for the third consecutive year support the competition.
The event was chaired by Mr Joan R. Mas (Director of Corporate Communication, Marketing and Digital Clients Transformation of Crèdit Andorrà), Mr Àlex Bercianos (responsible for the organization of Crèdit Andorrà GSeries and director of the Circuit d’Andorra - Pas de la Casa) and Albert Llovera (Andorran driver).

Mr Mas made the introduction of the presentation emphasizing the support given by the entity that represents both the sport in general and in particular the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries, a championship that unites two of the icons closely linked to Andorra: snow and motor racing. These were his words: We are very pleased to continue working on the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries as it is a reinforcement of the agreements we have with the Automòbil Club d’Andorra.
This championship is an example of the initiative that helps this country to position itself internationally. Andorra has always stood out for organizing events at the highest level and the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries are a good example.
I encourage all of Andorra in general to enjoy the competitions that will be held at the Circuit d’Andorra.

Mr Mas handed over the floor to Mr Bercianos who made an exhaustive review of all the novelties presented by both the facilities he directs and the 14th edition of the contest that is held on the ice rink of the Circuit d’Andorra. Furthermore he said he was very pleased to have renewed the agreement with Crèdit Andorrà.

He started by confirming the calendar of the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries 2019: There will be 5 scheduled meetings, which will be held during the first two months of 2019. Specifically, the dates in which the competitions will be disputed are 12-13 and 26-27 January, 2-3, 16-17 and 23-24 February.

The extension of the number of categories (from 2 to 5) has led to a change in the schedules on the aforementioned competition weekends. This was the explanation of A. Bercianos in this regard: First, we plan to host a greater number of vehicles in the events of the current season. Thus, to the usual categories GS (Prototypes G and Tourisms G) and GS2 (single-seater GIAND), we chose to bring back the ‘2-Wheel Drive’, which was so well received in past editions among the Andorran pilots, in addition to two new specialties ‘Car Cross’ and ‘Side by Side’, which due to their characteristics can give an excellent show on ice. Regarding the schedules he added: Obviously, with the expansion of categories, we had to modify the schedules. Therefore, the prevision is that the GS and GS2 categories will maintain a very similar timing to that of the last edition, while the ‘2WD’ will run on Saturday afternoon. Sunday, until noon, will be reserved for the two categories that debut this season.
In the previous edition the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries were broadcast on 14 channels from 111 countries, reaching a total of 600,000 people who saw the images of the vehicles competing on ice on the highest runway in Europe.

Bercianos also commented that, although the races will all be held on the same setting, before each of them the organization will provide detailed information on possible variations that can be applied, so that the competition is even more spectacular. On these lines, he presented some examples: Normally in previous editions some of the meetings were raced in the opposite direction to usual or with different variations of the track and the idea is that this tradition will be maintained, even with the possibility of establishing some new options.

In the final stretch of his speech, Bercianos encouraged all those present to visit the new premises of the Andorran setting: Thinking about the comfort of those who come to compete in the Circuit, we have built 9 new pits. In addition, the organizers will have at their disposal a building that could be described as emblematic of the installation. I am convinced that as far as scenery is concerned, this new infrastructure will provide a lot.

The charismatic Andorran driver, Albert Llovera, was delighted to face a new season of the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries, these were his words: I congratulate the Circuit d’Andorra and the ACA for the excellent work they have done to have first-class facilities. I ran the championship last year to recover from the interventions suffered in my hands and to tell you the truth, the result was unbeatable.
My big dream has always been to run the Swedish Rally, but they never let me. Being in the GSeries allows me to have very similar feelings although more in line with my possibilities. He continued encouraging drivers to sign up for the ice contest as preparation, thinking about the following season: I think it’s the best way to get hands on and stay fit during winter. It works particularly well for me since Rallycross is a specialty that is also driven on a sprint. Moreover it is a lot of fun.

The event was closed wishing good luck to organizers and teams that play the Crèdit Andorrà GSeries 2019, so that the competition can take place in the best conditions.
