Mikel Azcona did not have the luck on his side in the French track of Paul Ricard, which Azcona has raced in the third meeting of the Seat León Eurocup 2016. Despite being the only driver to get off the 2’18 “in race, could not complete the double day of competition with good feelings.
The spanish driver set the bests laps in the two rounds of free practice without forcing the car and using used material to take the contact in the fast French circuit.
The 30 minutes of official training were again a spectacular fight between Mikel Azcona and the Dutch driver Langeveld. Mikel set the fastest lap in the first two sectors while his rival regained his time in the final stretch. A tenth of a second separated the two drivers in the standings who delivered the first points of the meeting and configured the starting grid for the first race. Azcona was pleased with the official training results: We are again in the first row of the grid, let’s see if we can take a good exit and put us in the lead.
At the exit of the first race, the first drivers kept their positions. This time Mikel Azcona could not surprise his opponent and had no other option to follow its leader. During the 11 laps, PCR SPORT driver did not stopped trying it, but Langelved closed all the doors. Finally, a second place with very positive consequences thinking on the championship.
Before the podium, Mikel commented as similar at the end of the first race in Silverstone: Second place is certainly a good result especially considering that pilots have interspersed between him (Poulsen) and us. Besides that, we will fight tomorrow to further reduce the advantage for the classification of the Eurocup.

n the second race (11 laps), Azcona had no chance to defend their choices to a forward position. A touch on the same output left him out of the race.
After the double win in the French track, Langeveld (108 points) is the new leader of the Eurocup Seat León 2016, followed by Paulsen (105 points) and Azcona (92 points).
Seat León Eurocup exceed Ecuador calendar of the season in Mugello (Italy), just the novelty of the competition in 2016. The meeting will be held on 16 and 17 July.
